Packing is also called sealing packing. It is usually woven from softer threads and filled into the sealed cavity by strips with a square cross-sectional area to achieve sealing. Packing is mainly made of graphite and various fibers. According to different requirements, it is reinforced with carbon fiber, copper wire, 304, 316L, Inconel wire and other materials. There are the following types of common packing:
Expanded Graphite Packing, also known as flexible graphite packing, is made of flexible graphite thread through core weaving. Expanded graphite packing has good self-lubricating and thermal conductivity, low friction coefficient, strong versatility, good flexibility, high strength, and protection for the shaft.
The packing is a universal packing and is widely used in all walks of life.
The reinforced graphite packing is braided with pure expanded graphite wire reinforced by glass fiber, copper wire, stainless steel wire, nickel wire, Inconel wire and other materials. It has the characteristics of expanded graphite, and has strong versatility, good flexibility and high strength. Combined with general braided packing, it is the most effective sealing element to solve the high temperature and high pressure sealing problem.
This packing is an enhanced version of expanded graphite packing, which is an excellent sealing material
Graphite Packing
Asbestos Packing is braided with asbestos thread and woven with PTFE emulsion or graphite emulsion. It has a better sealing effect and is often used in pumps, valves, flanges, etc.
▪ Pure asbestos fiber packing: static sealing, as a filling material and heat insulation material under high temperature and high pressure conditions.
▪ Asbestos impregnated PTFE packing: dynamic and static sealing, especially suitable for high-speed pumps under medium pressure.
▪ Asbestos-impregnated graphite packing: dynamic seal, mainly used as packing for pumps and valves (feed pumps for boilers are especially suitable). It is suitable for alkaline solution, viscous liquid (such as oil), water, steam, gas, hot water, and salt liquid.
▪ Asbestos nickel-containing wire reinforced packing: static sealing is mainly used for hand holes, manholes, shell covers, etc. as static sealing. It is suitable for rough and uneven places such as steam hammer, reaction kettle, steam valve, etc. It can also be used for valves and slower speed equipment under high temperature and high pressure.
PTFE Packing is made of pure polytetrafluoroethylene dispersion resin as raw material, first made into raw film, and then twisted, braided and woven into packing. This kind of packing has no other additives and can be widely used in food , Pharmacy, papermaking chemical fiber, etc. have higher cleanliness requirements, and valves and pumps with strong corrosive media.
Scope of application: Maximum operating temperature: 260℃ Maximum operating pressure: 2.0MPa PH value: 0-14.
Carbonized fiber packing, also known as pre-oxidized wire packing, is a packing made of acrylic fiber pre-oxidized and woven, and the surface is made of polytetrafluoroethylene emulsion and lubricating treatment.
Carbonized fiber packing has excellent thermal conductivity, wear resistance and chemical stability, and is relatively cheap in non-asbestos products. It is an ideal asbestos substitute. The application field is quite wide.
